1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Zeno - Digital Wellness Coach ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

The App is operated by MindGrid Labs ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms apply to all users of the App.

2. The App

Zeno is a behavioral wellness application for Android that provides:

• Screen time monitoring and daily addiction scoring
• Intentional friction overlays before opening chosen apps
• Focus modes (Study, Deep Work, Family Time, Classroom)
• DNS-level tracker blocking via a local VPN
• Privacy noise generation
• Usage analytics, streaks, achievements, and behavior coaching
• All other features described in the app listing

All processing occurs locally on your device. No behavioral or usage data is transmitted to our servers or any third party (except as disclosed in Section 4 regarding advertising).

The App requires Android 8.0 (API 26) or higher and is free to download.

3. Permissions and Access

The App requests the following Android permissions to deliver its features. Granting each permission is voluntary; however, specific features require specific permissions to function:

• Usage Access: Required to read per-app screen time for addiction scoring and charts.
• Accessibility Service: Required to detect app launches (for friction overlays) and scroll events (for scroll-break detection). No text, passwords, or personal content is read.
• VPN (Local TUN): Required for the DNS tracking blocker. No traffic is routed through an external server.
• Draw Over Other Apps: Required to display the friction overlay on top of guarded apps.
• Query All Packages: Required for the Privacy Shield app audit. Results never leave your device.
• Receive Boot Completed: Required to restore privacy shields after a device restart.
• Notifications: Required to display the persistent score notification (optional feature).

You may revoke any permission at any time through your device's Settings. Revoking a permission disables the features that depend on it but does not affect other App functionality.

4. Advertising (AdMob)

The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect the following data to serve ads:

• Advertising ID (GAID): A resettable identifier used for ad personalization. You can reset or opt out of personalized ads in your device's Google settings.
• App usage and performance data: Used to measure ad performance.

AdMob data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not control the data Google AdMob collects and are not responsible for its privacy practices.

To opt out of personalized advertising: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
• The addiction score or behavioral insights will produce specific health outcomes
• The DNS tracker blocklist will block every tracker domain
• The App will be compatible with all Android devices or future OS versions

Zeno is a wellness tool, not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any mental health condition.

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MINDGRID LABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (which is zero, as the App is free).

7. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Material changes that affect your rights or our data practices will also be communicated via an in-app notice on the next launch after the update.
